Real Wedding: Kristin & Rick

Monday has crept up on us yet again and another full week of work is ahead of us! So, to start your work week, we bring you the lovely Kristin and Rick  and their fantastic Connecticut wedding. Rick and Kristin, who have known each other far before they decided to become a couple, got married at the Farmington Country Club. With planning done by Sarah True of True Event (who also happens to be Kristin’s friend,) the day looked absolutely perfect. Kristin, who said “yes to the dress” wore a stunning one shoulder dress by Maggie Sottero and had her bridesmaids in White by Vera Wang from David’s Bridal. The bouquet’s and centerpieces filled with succulents and neutral colored flowers were done by Hana Floral. The ombre wedding cake was created by Cakes by Steve and to top the day off, the mesmerizing photographs were taken by Leila Brewster!

Quote from the bride: “Rick and I both come from big, Italian families and are blessed to have many mutual friends. Anyone who knows us knows that the ongoing joke has been that the amount of weddings we go to is probably record-breaking. So when Rick proposed on December 23rd, 2010, it felt very surreal knowing that we were going to be plan our own this time.

Rick is a Physical Education teacher and I work as an Interior Designer for an architectural firm. For Rick, it was important to pick a date that wouldn’t conflict with school, which is why we settled on 8.10.12. For me, I wanted to utilize my background in design to personalize the day and stay within budget. To help me stay focused, my dear friend and phenomenal event planner, Sarah True of True Event, was there to help execute my ideas every step of the way.

We chose a church in our hometown that we both were baptized in and where our parents, aunts and uncles got married. We decided on The Farmington Club for the reception because it was large enough to fit our guests and we’ve only been there once before out of all the weddings we’ve been to!

Finding my dress was not as simple as I thought it would be. I went to many places and thought I found one. However, I already had scheduled an appointment at Kleinfeld’s the next day, so even though I thought I was all set, I decided to still take the trip for the experience. I worked with Diane who was great. She took me into the “room of white” and I was so overwhelmed. Strapped for time, I quickly grabbed four dresses, and little did I know that I’d find the “one”. I ended up saying “yes” to the second dress (yes, they ask you even if you’re not on TV!). It was by Maggie Sottero and arrived the day before. It was within the budget, even more than the one I tried on the night before. I wanted something different. When she put that strap over my shoulder, I knew that it was “the” dress.”

Kristin and Rick, we are so happy the timing was finally right. Congratulations.
