Real Wedding: Marissa & Kim

Happy Monday Everyone! As Summer is coming to an end, we hope you are soaking up those last warm weather days like we are! Today, we bring you one for the books! We bring you the fabulous wedding of Marissa and Kim, whose story is like no other! Marissa who grew up in Massachusetts and Kim who was raised in Denmark are both Korean adoptee’s who met on a trip to Korea to learn about their country. Marissa and Kim got married at the lovely Belle Mer in Newport! Being able to have many of their Danish friends and family join the festivities, they made sure to have several Danish traditions throughout the day. One being dancing the Danish waltz as their first dance as a married couple. Surrounded by family and friends and music by Entertainment Specialist the couple danced and celebrated the night away! Marissa looked breath taking in her gown by Reem Acra and Jimmy Choo shoes! We absolutely love the  unique floral arrangements done by Broadway Floral. The bridal bouquet of long stemmed cala lily’s are absolutely to die for! We also have to put our hands together (and we suggest you do as well) for the wonderful photographs by Nicole Chan Photography! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Congratulations to you both!

A quote from the photography: “I believe that love finds us in the weirdest of places. He grew up in Denmark and she grew up in Western MA. Both Korean adoptees, they met on a trip back to Korea to learn about the country that they were born in! Their story is one of international love, silly penguin-like dance moves, and astonishing efforts for one another. (Marissa is learning Danish!) Marissa and Kim had a Newport Belle Mer wedding in front of a beautiful ocean sunset. Marissa and Kim were wed in Denmark. Of course, this amazing celebration is a bit different from jumping on a bike and getting hitched! :) I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting many Danes, but having met a handful, who flew across the pond for this Newport wedding, I’m discovering that I’m slightly in love with Danish accents! For their Belle Mer wedding, Marissa and Kim incorporated lots of Danish traditions, such as the waltz and the cutting of the socks! Marissa and Kim’s first dance was a traditional Danish waltz. They will be encircled by friends and family who will clap in rhythm, gradually moving in on them until there’s no room left to dance! Seconds afterwards, Kim was swooped up a handful of his closest friends and they cut off the tip of one of his socks! This is part of the Danish “cutting of the socks”. Tradition says that this means the groom will be faithful to his wife. Marissa and Kim, have an amazing roadtrip-honeymoon up the US East Coast!”
