Top Trend: Wedding Song

We’ve all heard “At Last” by Etta James or “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler, one too many times as someone’s wedding song. Am I right? The couple enter as newlyweds, and the music begins. It just takes the first few chords and you hear a sigh or an “awww” throughout the crowd.  That oh so familiar song comes on and your guests take solace in hearing that friendly and frequently played tune. Now, I am not putting down either of these songs, “At Last’ happens to be one of my favorites, but they do become a tad bit over done. Why not surprise your guests with something new and less traditional? What about a song that rings a special bell for you and your new hubby? Whether its fast or slow, we say reconsider before you pick “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion and choose something other than the usual!

Did you decide on a less than typical wedding song on your day? Let us know at connect@nwglam.com! We’d love to hear what you danced to!

XOXO-Samantha

I love the idea of an origial song! You won’t hear it at every wedding plus there are tons of songs out there that could be a great fit for your relationship beyond the traditional tunes. My husband and i danced to Ron Pope, my last first kiss. The words are so sweet and the meaning behind was genuine, plus it had a great tempo. We “discovered” the artist together so we were happy to find something we both loved! We used our other “first dance” choices we had before we found the song (more popular songs like Ray Lamontagne you are the best thing and Al Green let’s stay together) so other “big moments” like cutting the cake and the last dance song!

Love it! Thanks for sharing! Great song choice. Also love “You Are the Best Thing”. Great idea on incorporating other favorites into other parts of the day!

Our last dance was “Alright, Okay, You Win” By Peggy Lee. It was so fun and cute.

We played “Happy” by Martin Sexton for our last dance. Our first dance was “Bring it on Home to Me” by Little Big Town.
