Dear Donna,
I purchased a wedding dress from a salon and when the dress came in it is not what I remembered it to look like when I tried the sample on months ago. I had my first fitting and was in tears!! What do I do and we are just a couple of months from our wedding date?

Dear Disaster,
Your first step should be to look at the sample again and make sure it is the right dress. If the dress is the one you ordered, but you thought it would look different based on the sample you tried on, it might just be a matter of getting a proper fitting. Have a discussion with the seamstress and let her know what about the dress you would like to change. Most of the time they can work miracles and truly fit it for you in a flattering way. If none of this is making you happy, try to negotiate something with the store manager. If for some reason you like the sample, see if they can switch your dress with the sample. Perhaps they can offer you some acceptable alternatives, either by ordering a different dress at a discount, or allowing you to purchase a sample.
Your dress is important and you should feel beautiful in it. Don’t compromise on that feeling. Make sure when you look in the mirror, it’s the dress for you.
