Real Wedding: Jessica & Donald

Jessica and Donald were married at the glamorous and much sought-after Belle Mer on Newport’s Goat Island in a beautiful ceremony dripping with romance and replete with both rustic and modern touches. The couple wanted an ocean backdrop on their special day and though neither Jessica nor Donald are from Newport, they do hold a special place in their hearts for this lovely and charming city by the sea. In the bride’s own words:

“We wanted to get married on the water and have been to Newport several times over the years while dating for long weekends.  We love Newport, the people, the food and the town.  It is such a fun place to spend time.  When we started thinking about where to get married, we realized that Newport would be the perfect choice.”

Our friends at Snap! Photography were there to capture the gorgeous details throughout the day! As always, we here at Newport Wedding Glam want to thank the beautiful couple for sharing their special day with us!

It’s hard to choose just one or even two elements in this picture-perfect day to highlight here, but we just wanted to say how much we adored the abundant use of fresh flowers and romantic candlelight – both from Greenlion Design – to set the stage for a romantic and inviting evening.

“There were lounge chairs outside by the fire pit and in front of the fireplace inside so people could kick back and relax before getting back on the dance floor,” Jessica said. “We didn’t want the space to feel over-styled either because Belle Mer is just simply beautiful and really doesn’t need much in the way of adornment.  It is a mix of laid back and beautiful things.”

We also wanted to mention what an AMAZING job the Cupcakerie did in creating a beautiful batch of seasonal, thoughtful and gorgeous Rhode Island strawberry cupcakes for the reception.

“When I chose my cupcakes, I knew that I wanted to have a seasonal flavor included,” Jessica said.  Although I tasted them in the winter when there were no strawberries in season, Kristen at the Cupcakerie purchased strawberries just to test them out and we crossed our fingers that the end of May would warm enough to have fresh local berries in the market.  And boy did they.  The RI Strawberry Cupcakes were a hit.  They were eaten off the table before we even did the cutting of the cupcake!  Luckily there were a few left for us, but we had to act fast.  The Cupcakerie uses mostly local ingredients from RI farms for all of their items, which make things taste so much fresher. They were delicious!”
